Commissioned in 1932, this legendary cruiser played a vital role in World War II, earning ten battle stars before tragically sinking in action just two weeks before the war's end. This meticulously crafted model kit precisely replicates the Indianapolis' anti-aircraft armaments and equipment as they were improved in July 1945. The realistic hull, consisting of right and left halves, showcases the incredible attention to detail achieved through precise mold carving techniques. You'll admire the anchor chain and nonslip treatments on the deck, meticulously recreated to perfection. The kit also features intricate details of the bridges, funnels, masts, and radar, allowing you to truly immerse yourself in the craftsmanship of this historical vessel.
Impressively armed, the Indianapolis model kit includes 8in/55 caliber batteries on turret, 5in/25 caliber dual-purpose guns, and 20mm/40mm anti-aircraft guns. Thanks to the poli caps installed underneath, you can even rotate the turrets for added realism. To further enhance the authenticity of your model, two Curtiss SC-1 Seahawks airplanes are included. These aircraft were an essential part of the Indianapolis' operations and are perfect for adding that finishing touch to your build. Please note that this plastic model kit requires plastic cement and paint for assembly, which are sold separately.
