KMC Chains Editorial Review

The KMC e9 EPT Bicycle Chain has garnered a mixed reception among users, particularly those utilizing it on e-bikes. Many customers report an impressive durability, with some riding over 1000 miles without any noticeable issues. The ability to handle high-torque outputs from mid-drive motors, such as those found in powerful e-mountain bikes, has been frequently highlighted as a strong point of the chain. Users have praised it for its strength, noting that it works well even in demanding conditions like steep climbs and rocky terrains. However, the chain is not without its downsides. Some users encountered compatibility issues with specific chainrings, particularly the Lekkie Bling Ring, citing that the spacing between the links was too narrow, which resulted in the chain skipping off during use. This issue emphasizes the importance of ensuring that the chain and chainring specifications match to avoid performance problems. Moreover, a significant complaint revolves around the non-reusable connector link that comes with the chain. Many customers were disappointed to discover that this feature was not communicated clearly in the product description. It limits the convenience of maintaining the chain since users must purchase replacement connectors if they wish to disassemble it for cleaning. In conclusion, while the KMC e9 EPT chain boasts robust performance and durability, potential buyers should be cautious about compatibility with certain chainrings and Consider the need for additional purchases for maintenance. **
